BBC Introducing stage returns to Bestival bringing new music to the biggest festival in the South.
Announced by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft, Bestival have confirmed that BBC Introducing will be returning to this year’s festival.
Recognised as one of the biggest support networks for rising talent, BBC Introducing will be hosting a stage at the festival’s famous Desert Island Disco bonanza for the first time since 2007, giving new artists their time to shine. Taking place from the 4th to the 7th September, the event is renowned for bringing up and coming artists to the forefront of music and promises that you’ll ‘discover your favourite new act’ on the Isle of Wight.
Rob da Bank, one of Bestival’s co-founders and legendary Radio 1 DJ, says he’s “really pleased” that BBC Introducing are making a come back: “We love having big headliners and loads of great acts we all know and love, but every year the crucial thing for us and many of you is to stumble across an incredible mind-blowing act you didn’t even know existed”.
All of the action will be kicking off on the BBC Introducing Stage on Friday night in the Bollywood Field with an opening party guaranteed to get you moving, with sets from Radio 1 and 1Xtra DJs.
It doesn’t stop there though; over the rest of the weekend the stage will become the place for the live bands and DJs set to be the next big thing, all who have been supported through local and national BBC Introducing schemes. Saturday will see the teenage production duo Bondax headline with performances from Karma Kid, Seb Wildblood, Farrow and The Gorgeous Chans, to name a few.
Sunday is all about Manchester producer TCTS with GhostChant, Mella Dee, TRU Concept, Lake Komo, Brooklyn and Raphaella. These rising stars join the huge line up already set to play at the three day extravaganza, with the likes of OutKast, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Disclosure, Beck, Foals, London Grammar and plenty more.
