Following their announcement of SteamOS on Monday, Valve yesterday revealed Steam Machines.
These are a variety of Steam gaming devices which run on SteamOS, they are being developed by multiple manufacturers and will be available in 2014. These ‘Steam Boxes’ will have different qualities depending on people’s needs, some will be optimised for size while others for price or quietness.
In addition to these devices, Valve also announced that they have developed their own prototype Steam machine. Later this year Valve will ship 300 of these prototypes to Steam users to test for free. To be eligible to be selected for this beta you must complete five simple steps before October 25th:
1. Join the Steam Universe community group.
2. Agree to the Steam Hardware Beta Terms and Conditions
3. Make 10 Steam friends
4. Create a public Steam Community profile

Valve rounded off the reveal by answering some FAQs, you can read these and the rest of the announcement here.
