The long awaited standalone version of multiplayer zombie-survival game DayZ is now available to download on Steam Early Access for £19.99.
DayZ started out as a mod for Arma II and quickly gained a large following, with hundreds of thousands of people buying Arma II simply to play DayZ, and a standalone version was announced in August 2012. After several delays the game is finally here, but developers Bohemia Interactive have issued a warning to players looking to the purchase the game in its current state.
They said in a message on the game’s Steam Early Access page:
“DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process. Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.”
This message doesn’t seem to have put too many people off however, with the game selling an impressive 172,500 copies in its first 24 hours.
