Some new gameplay footage for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number has been revealed in an interview with Eurogamer.
The sequel to the top-down beat-em/shoot-em up (which I was very fond of) from Dennation Games looks like it will retain everything we loved from the first the game: over the top gore, masks which give you special abilities, and addictive, fast-paced gameplay which will see you die over and over again.
There will be some new additions however. The story follows a wider cast than the last game, some of the masks have been tweaked and there will be restrictions on which masks you can use on which levels, and there will be a new mode: Hard mode. This is unlocked when you complete a stage with a C+ or higher and players will have a certain tool stripped away from them to make it more challenging.
In Eurogamer’s interview (which was conducted with one of game’s protagonist’s, The Jacket) it was confirmed that Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will be the final game in the series and we should expect the game to be nearly finished when ‘the snow is falling’, which I guess means a winter release.
Whenever it does come out, I am looking forward to it very much. If you haven’t seen the teaser trailer which was released last month yet, you can do so here.
