Only last month North London’s inspirational indie-folk trio Daughter announced plans to release their debut album If You Leave on 18th March this year through 4AD. As if this news couldn’t be exciting enough, they’ve also prepared an intimate event for this Friday afternoon (8th March) at a secret location in London to play the album in full 10 days ahead of it being released to the public. The band have included a competition alongside the announcement giving eager fans the chance to attend the event by entering their e-mail address via this link. Names will be picked at random and successful fans will be notified by Wednesday afternoon (6th March) with all details.
2013 has proved a great leap ahead so far for the band, who announced they’d signed to 4AD management back in April 2012. After tickets for their UK & Ireland tour sold with such success they announced plans in January for a longer European tour with added UK dates for April this year. The 16-date tour will come after the release of If You Leave, giving fans from multiple countries the chance to see them perform their new material live.
One of Daughter’s most popular tracks has been Love – an acoustic guitar filled, soulful and sad melody that has received its fair share of remixes and edits by other musicians like electronic artist Synkro. Their most recent single Still was released with a music video back in January, featuring lead singer Elena’s echoic, catchy voice against a backdrop of drums, guitar chords and soft piano notes.
Other songs worth a listen include Smother, Run and Youth taken from their previous EPs The Wild Youth and His Young Heart. Given their talent with previous records it’s evident the gifted trio won’t disappoint with their upcoming release.
